How to Fall in Love with the Future

There are an infinite number of possible futures ahead of us, like threads stretching out into the distance. Some are familiar, some are wild, and some haven’t yet been imagined.

Falling in love with the future begins with remembering that it is not fixed. It is alive. And we are part of shaping it.

The Future Opens When We Ask Different Questions

Most organisations ask: What will the future look like? But a more powerful question is: What future do we want to fall in love with?

What becomes possible when we stop bracing for the future and start courting it?

What if the future is not something to fear, but something to co create?

What if the next chapter of leadership is less about prediction and more about imagination?

The Future Needs Human Qualities We Often Forget We Have

To fall in love with the future, we need to trust our own capacity to meet it.

Ask yourself:

  • What becomes possible when I slow down enough to sense what matters?
  • What ideas are waiting at the edges of my awareness?
  • What conversations could open new pathways if I dared to have them?
  • What would my organisation look like if we led from imagination rather than urgency?

These questions don’t give answers. They give direction. Co Creating with Technology, Not Competing with It

The future is not humans versus technology. It is humans and technology, co creating something wiser.

AI can help us work with clarity and efficiency. But only humans can imagine futures worth moving toward.

So ask:

  • How might technology support the future I want to build?
  • What human capacities must I protect, nurture, and prioritise?
  • What becomes possible when both are allowed to thrive together?

This is how we create futures that feel hopeful, human, and alive.

Choosing Your Thread

The future is a landscape of threads stretching out ahead of us.

Which one feels alive for you? Which one feels possible? Which one feels worth walking toward?

Falling in love with the future is simply choosing the thread that resonates — and taking the first step.

An Invitation

If your organisation is ready to explore futures that feel regenerative, relational, and full of possibility, I’d love to walk that thread with you.

The future is not something to survive. It’s something we get to fall in love with.
